Background. 90 % of the world's population suffers from one or more cases of back pain throughout their lives. The cause of back pain is multifactorial, which particularly complicates the process of its diagnosis and treatment. One of the ethologies of such pain can be a pathology of facet (arcuate) joints.
Materials and methods. The authors of the article developed a new method of diagnosis of facet syndrome of the lumbar spine. The essence of the method is as follows – conduct a survey and examination of patients suffering from pain in the lumbar spine, and evaluate the following indicators: age, anamnesis and complaints, evaluation of the neurological status and data of paraclinic methods of examination, assessment of the volume and nature of movements in the lumbar spine. In the future, the patient performs a blockade of the arc joints with a mixture of local anesthetic and glucocorticoid (on both sides in a pre-marked area of the location of the spinous process to the interarticular gap of the arc joints.
Results. The proposed new, unified method was applied in 76 patients and its results were proved by good immediate and long-term results.
Conclusions. This method makes it possible to accurately verify the diagnosis and plan timely intervention treatment, which will reduce the duration of treatment and quickly return to the working capacity of the patient.
